The Exchange 4 – Highlights
On Thursday, we hosted ‘The Exchange 4’, co-led by Amanda Anderson and mental health consultant Mike Lawrence. This dynamic session brought together passionate members of our workplace wellbeing network, including Mental Health First Aiders, Wellbeing Champions, and workplace leaders committed to improving mental health and wellbeing in their organisations.
Despite a brief delay due to technical issues, the Exchange 4 meeting fostered a collaborative and supportive environment where participants candidly shared challenges and strategies for creating healthier, more inclusive workplaces.
Key Takeaways – The Exchange 4

2. The Role of Mental Health First Aid Training
A member highlighted the value of mental health first aid training, particularly in hybrid work environments. Accessibility and ongoing support were key themes, underscoring the importance of equipping workplace leaders with the tools to provide effective mental health support.
3. Menopause Support in the Workplace
A member initiated a meaningful discussion on menopause support groups, sharing the positive reception her initiative has received. Participants reflected on the need to normalise conversations around menopause, further reducing stigma and creating inclusive policies for affected staff.
4. Leveraging AI for Wellbeing and Efficiency
The meeting explored the potential of AI tools like Microsoft’s Co-Pilot, Fireflies.ai and ChatGPT in supporting workplace wellbeing. Participants shared experiences of using AI to streamline workloads, manage tasks, and support mental health initiatives. This sparked lively discussions about the importance of choosing the right tools to enhance productivity without adding stress.
5. Actionable Steps and Future Goals
The session concluded with a focus on actionable steps, including the launch of a workplace wellbeing survey in the new year to gather feedback and measure the impact of existing initiatives. Participants also shared their aspirations for the upcoming year, committing to continued learning, resource-sharing, and building more supportive workplace environments.
My Reflections
Reflecting on The Exchange 4 session, I am inspired by the collective commitment to driving meaningful change within our connected organisations. Two key themes resonated with me:
Inclusive Support for Diverse Needs
The conversation around deaf staff and menopause support highlighted the importance of tailored, inclusive strategies. Ensuring every employee feels valued and supported is at the heart of workplace wellbeing, and this meeting reinforced the value of listening, learning, and acting with intention.
The Promise of Technology in Wellbeing
While technology alone cannot solve mental health challenges, the thoughtful integration of AI tools offers exciting opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce stress. Balancing innovation with humanity will be key to leveraging these tools effectively.
Looking Ahead
As we prepare for 2025, The Exchange continues to thrive as a platform for collaboration, insight-sharing, and innovation in workplace wellbeing. We extend our gratitude to everyone who participated and shared their stories, strategies, and ideas.
